Remarkable. The story takes a turn in John 12.20-26. It’s almost as if Jesus rings the bell, “Now it’s time to do what I came here to do.”
His last words really hit home. Sometimes when we ask people if they’re Christians, they usually refer to a time in their life when they were baptized or during VBS or to them it may be the same thing as asking, “Are you American?” But that’s not how Jesus puts it in John. Perhaps, following Jesus, we should ask 1) Do you serve Jesus? and 2) Do you follow Jesus?
The other question (Are you a Christian?) is just confusing. What do you mean “Christian”?
